Super kind and generous host and managing agent, with a fully stocked kitchen in case you forgot anything. We saw a mother deer with her baby munching on the lawn in front at night when we arrived and that set the tone for our stay. I didn’t leave. Millionaire’s Beach is worth the walk down. As is the long, idyllic walk to Buffels Bay. The accommodation was spectacular, with wonderful attention to detail that made us feel so well looked after. Thank you so much!

My family and I spent two consecutive long weekends at this beautiful getaway in Brenton-on-Sea while my daughter took part in two sports festivals in Knysna (just 15 min drive from Brenton). We were hoping for a quiet escape, and what we found when we arrived at Waves and Whales far exceeded our expectations.
The house is clean, stylish, and decorated with impeccable taste and attention to detail. We especially loved the open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchen area, where we spent most of our time together as a family – cooking, eating, playing board games, reading, and watching movies on the large TV. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything we needed, and we were delighted by the complimentary jar of local honey and freshly baked bread gifted to us by the hosts on our arrival.
The home is close to the beach – about a 10-minute walk or a quick 2-minute drive – and we made the most of it every day. Long walks, sea swims, and the peacefulness of Brenton made it incredibly special. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, in wonderfully comfortable beds, was another highlight. The garage was also thoughtfully stocked with everything needed for a perfect beach day – beach umbrellas, boogie boards, beach chairs, and games for the kids. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’re incredibly grateful to Sonja and Tyler for the care and effort they’ve put into making Waves and Whales such a relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

From the moment we arrived, Waves & Whales completely exceeded our expectations. The view alone is worth writing home about—truly breathtaking, the kind you never get tired of no matter how many times you look out on the deck. What really set this place apart, though, was the incredible attention to detail. Every corner of the home felt thoughtfully designed, from the cozy furnishings to the small touches that made such a difference—perfect lighting, soft linens, well-stocked essentials, and even little welcoming gestures that made me feel instantly welcomed.
It genuinely felt like a home away from home, but somehow even better—more peaceful, more beautiful, and more intentional. Everything was spotless, comfortable, and inviting, making it easy to settle in and relax right away and our two boys loved it, there were so many activities for them to do. Reading the other reviews I have to agree that the host Sonja has really thought of everything and more. I especially loved the black face cloths for make up removal and the beautifully bound welcome / instruction manual.

One of our best stays ever! The hosts really took the time to make us feel welcomed. They had homemade sourdough bread waiting, marshmallows, a welcoming drink and a note written out to each family member. Everything you would possibly need was available, we just took our clothes! They even had groceries and coffee, tea , milk and eggs and more!
Very peaceful area with the view of the ocean from the lounge and balcony. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back there!

Had the most incredible experience at Waves & Whales. The space is spotless, comfortable, and modest in the best way — it instantly feels like a peaceful escape. The highlight has to be the view: panoramic ocean scenery with the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen.
